1. Right now, most social networks have deviated from their original objective of connecting people, and have morphed into media platforms with brands and influencers vying for your attention.

Mitr solves this core problem by placing the need for real connections over advertising dollars. Research suggests that you cannot maintain more than 30 real friendships. So, in Mitr, you interact with just a handful of your close friends (the number of "friends" one can have on Mitr is limited to 30). This also makes sharing your life online more reassuring.

2. Mitr has privacy by design. It doesn't ask for much personal information, except name. And there are no targeted ads, so your usage data is never monetized.

Mitr is fundamentally based on respecting user privacy and hence will always be ad-free. We aim to monetize by offering some add-on features which are not necessary to effectively use the app. For example, we may offer custom themes for the app as a paid feature.

In case a friend referred you, you can find the invite code in the message you received. Otherwise the invite code will be available in an online post which brought you to the website. If you came here directly and want an invite code, please write to nidhi [at] mitr.social.

We require access to contacts so that you can add your close friends among your contacts. We also plan to use your contacts to display names of your close friends as stored in your address book. This can help stop possible impersonation attempts. Your contacts data never leaves your device and is never sent to our servers

In case you were referred by friend(s), you can accept their friend request. You can also invite new friends to mitr by selecting up to 30 contacts from your address book and sharing the invite codes separately with your friend over a messaging app. Once you have enough friends, you can begin sharing posts and moments.

No, you cannot create multiple accounts with the same phone number. Each phone number is associated with a unique account. The old account needs to be deleted to be able to create a new account with the same phone number.

Mitr is very different from an instant messaging or group sharing service. Mitr is about sharing with ALL your close friends, who are likely to be in different groups. Mitr also has a feed which consists of updates from your close friends, with ability to like and comment on each post. This makes sharing much more organized than in group chats.

Currently, the app is available as an open beta on both Android and iOS. You will need to have the TestFlight app to install the app on iOS.

You can't change your phone number on the account for now, but this feature will be available in one of the later releases.

At present, you cannot edit or delete your post. But soon this feature will be available.

Yes, you can delete your account from the app after you have logged in. Deleting your account permanently deletes all your activity.
